Emergency Prayer Alert-NORTH KOREA
URGENT: Prayer is Needed NOW for the Nation of North Korea
WIN PRAYER ALERT
A Christian woman has been executed by the government of North Korea for distributing Bibles and her family was sentenced to a prison camp.
Ri Hyon was arrested and charged with spying for foreign governments. On July l6, 2009, she was executed. The next day, her husband, parents, and children were sent to a prison in the city of Hoeryong.
North Korea is already considered the worst violator of human rights in the world, as well as the worst persecutor of Christians. According to Open Doors, somewhere between 50,000 and 70,000 Believers are currently imprisoned in North Korean labor camps.
The execution of Ri Hyon, however, has caused some observers to fear that an even greater wave of persecution may be coming. One human rights group reports that "North Korea has stepped up executions of Christians, some of them in public. "
Although the government supposedly allows for freedom of religion, it approves of just four state-run churches. These churches are for foreigners only. North Koreans are not allowed to participate. Hundreds of thousands of Christians are forced to worship secretly in underground fellowships. They follow Christ under a constant threat of exposure and violence. Just owning a Bible can result in arrest, detention, disappearance and death.
"North Korea appears to have judged that Christian forces could pose a threat to its regime, " one South Korean activist said.
The only religion allowed in North Korea is the worship of former president, Kim Il-Sung and his son, current president, Kim Jong-Il. All other forms of religion are swiftly and severely suppressed.
Pray all executions of Christians will stop immediately, and never occur again.
Pray all Christians being held by the government will be safely released immediately.
Pray for a sudden and complete end to all acts of Christian persecution.
Pray for true freedom of worship to be allowed for all North Koreans, and not just foreigners in this land.
Pray for the thick spiritual darkness hovering over North Korea to be demolished by the liberating Light of Jesus Christ. (Acts 26:18)
Pray for godly sorrow to drive the hearts of the nation's leaders to repentance and salvation. Pray for Kim Jong-Il to surrender His life to God and lead the nation out from the cult of personality worship, into the freedom in Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. (II Corinthians 7:10)
Pray for God to comfort Believers who have lost loved ones and who are worshiping in secret, at the risk of persecution. (II Corinthians 1:3,4)
Pray for God to be glorified in the murder of Ri Hyon and that all North Koreans will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Psalm 116:15)
Pray for God to strengthen Believers with His presence and empower them to endure. (I Peter 4:13)
Pray for a great awakening in this nation. Pray for God's Kingdom to come in power to North Korea. (Matthew 6:10)
